Mead is an alcoholic drink based on honey. The process of fermentation is responsible for its transformation into alcohol. The history of this drink goes back to the Middle Ages, however, it can be consumed in antiquity. There are references to its production from 7000 BC! It was produced almost all over the world. However, Polish honeys were very much valued because of the long period of storage. Fermented honey from us was very thick, thanks to the unique taste and aroma. It can be safely said that in medieval Poland, mead was replaced by wine. At the time, however, he was an important drunk on important ceremonies.

Mead should be served at room temperature. In winter, it is mostly served with lemon and orange. Store it like wine, in dry and dark rooms, low temperature (5-10 degrees Celsius), and in a leaving position. In addition, the bottles must be tightly closed, without oxygen.


An interesting fact may be the fact that the term “honeymoon” comes from the Middle Ages. For the full moon cycle after the wedding, the young couples consumed meads. It was a drink and an aphrodisiac and promotes the rapid appearance of the offspring. It is worth adding that the bride is in the dowry!
